’08 XL1200N Harley Davidson Nightster Short Shots
Nightster with a few mods. 'Stage 1' with Vance and Hines black Short Shots, Vance and Hines Fuelpak, and Screamin Eagle air cleaner. Black Progressive 412 rear shocks. Mustang Vintage Solo seat. The 'stage 1' with the new pipes really woke the bike up. It *feels* like a Harley now. The sound is incredible. It's quite a bit quicker too. The combination of the 412's and seat have made an incredible improvement to the ride. I think I can actually ride for more than an hour without needing to stop and stretch now. I plan on getting a detachable rear rack and roll bag for it still and maybe a new grips and pegs set, but I'm not planning much more in the way of modifications. A few accent pieces here and there is all I can foresee. No ape hangers or forward controls for me. I like it like it is.

@TTBlackOPS A girls bike huh, you must have a rice burner. Some people choose to build there speed instead of buying it off the showroom floor. Show some respect. The bottom line…enjoy what you ride, no matter what it is!!! D bag!

What kind of a fuel pack did you install into this beast? I just installed the V&H fuel pack with my short shots and a high flow Kuryyakyn hypercharger but the beast backfires on deceleration. Just read about the Zipper Thundermax but thats another $850 or so. Your sounds smooth even after you let go after the rev.

My daughter’s bike has about the same set up, only I had Harley put a race tuner and mapping on it. So I was out the other day riding the Ultra and my daughter was on the Nightster..I opened up the throttle and got up to 105 just in time to watch her go by me like I was going 55. Not something we wanted mom to find out about.

Does the mustang seat sit you higher than the stock seat ?
June 3rd, 2010 - 16:49
@Tattoofreakster
Yeah, about an inch maybe……it’s totally worth it though – you can ride all day on the Vintage!
June 3rd, 2010 - 19:32
Does this seat sit you back more then stock?
June 3rd, 2010 - 20:42
@Tattoofreakster I didn’t find that it did very much, but some people do believe it does move you and I can’t honestly remember which way

June 25th, 2010 - 20:41
@drewleelake Well, they are supposed to open it up a bit…..combined with the high flow air cleaner and tuner it’s supposed to bump up the hp/tq……mostly though – it just sounds way faster! LOL Those Short Shots scream!

July 13th, 2010 - 12:57
@yahoochiewatchie I liked my Nightster, but they are getting pretty common I suppose. To each their own I guess.

my height is 5″7 by the way
July 21st, 2010 - 21:14
@josephpena956 Man, there are guys over 6ft who ride these. Check out the XL Forums – best Sportster site I found. I’m 5’6″ and could easily flat foot.
If you are heavy like I am – I might suggest the heavy duty Progressive shocks. I bought the regular and I bottomed out all the time with them.
